Carol Nolan: Borre primary care site rejected, calls for urgent action

She said she had spent significant time seeking an update on a primary care centre proposal for Borre and was informed yesterday that the proposed site had been rejected.

Deputy Nolan told the Tanaiste that the site rejection appears to contradict the Government's stated approach and the Sláinte Care report. She asked whether the Government and the Minister for Health could urgently intervene to address the matter.

Local need and duration of the issue

Deputy Nolan said the people of Borre and surrounding areas badly need a primary health care centre and that the issue has been ongoing for years. She said the matter needs to be brought to a conclusion so the community can get the services it requires.

The Tanaiste replied that they did not have information on the Borre proposal at the time but would check it out. The Tanaiste agreed that the town needs a new primary care centre sooner rather than later and indicated follow-up would be undertaken.
