Rose Conway-Walsh presses for Western Rail Corridor in NDP
Rose Conway-Walsh challenged the Tánaiste on whether the Western Rail Corridor is included in the National Development Plan and described it as an essential infrastructure project for the West of Ireland. The Tánaiste replied that the NDP is under review and expected to be published in July or shortly thereafter, and noted other reports reached different conclusions.

Following the publication of the John Bradley report, the government needs to stop prevaricating and deliver on the Western Rail Corridor as part of the National Development Plan. Is this in the National Development Plan and do you recognise that it's an absolute key piece of infrastructure for the development of West of Ireland? Your contributions in relation to the Western Rail Corridor project, the NDP is currently under review and should be published in July, if not a little bit later. And there are of course other reports that have been done as well that the deputy is familiar with, like the Jasper's report, for example, which came to different conclusions. The government is very aware of the problems being created by the cost of building materials rising. A lot of it is down to international commodity prices, not entirely under our control, but we are engaging with the industry about it to see what we can do.
