Mattie McGrath urges visit to Tipperary Town over chronic congestion
Mattie McGrath asked the minister to visit Tipperary Town to meet a task force led by Alison Harvey and to press for jobs, mapping and road measures to relieve chronic town-centre congestion. He said an outer relief road or an interim in-between road is needed ahead of a motorway between Limerick and Waterford and warned of Brexit-related pressures.

Mattie McGrath requested a site visit to Tipperary Town to meet the task force led by Alison Harvey and to hear from local groups collaborating on employment and planning for TIP.
Local task force priorities
He told the house the task force needs jobs for TIP and maps for TIP and is focused on addressing chronic congestion in the town centre, with multiple local groups working hard to improve the situation.
Road infrastructure and motorway timing
He argued for construction of an outer relief road or an interim in-between road before the completion of the motorway from Limerick to Waterford, which he described as badly needed, and stressed the importance of improved links given Brexit.

The minister replied that they would engage with the issues, work with all deputies from Tipperary and pursue the socio-economic and education challenges highlighted for Tipperary Town.

I want to ask you if you would visit Tipperary Town and meet with the task force led by Alison Harvey and they need jobs for TIP and maps for TIP because it's chronic congestion in the town and they need an outer relief road or an in-between road before we get the motorway from Limerick to Waterford which is badly needed also onto the portal for us later especially in these times with Brexit so I'm asking you if you would visit TIP town to see for yourself the excellent work being done by the task force and talk to the task force and the other groups who are collaborating and working hard to try and improve the situation in Tipperary Town Many deputies, all the deputies from Tipperary have alerted me to the situation in Tipperary Town and the challenges that have been faced there and from social economic challenges to education so I certainly will engage with those issues and will work with all the deputies to see how best we can pursue those issues Thank you
