Danny Healy-Rae Warns of PCR Shortages, High Private Test Costs

He said that, on the day of the speech, there was no PCR test available in Kerry and that the nearest testing point was Shannon Airport. He also said tests were not available in Cork and questioned how 212,000 PCRs could have been distributed last week if people could not obtain them locally.

Booster availability and travel

The speaker reported that booster doses were not available in Killarney and were only being offered in Tralee, forcing residents from South Kerry and East Kerry to travel for boosters.

Private test costs for families

He gave an example of a family of seven being quoted 700 euros to travel to the bonds in Tralee for a private PCR test, using the example to challenge the logic of the current arrangements.

During the address he pushed back against suggestions he was lying, saying "I'm not telling lies, Stephen," and closed by thanking Thomas Pringle. His remarks combined practical complaints about service access with a demand for clearer explanations of test distribution.
