Gino Kenny said the moment was a happy one in which Ireland can celebrate and welcome the recognition of Palestine. He argued that even if some call it symbolic, symbolism brings hope, and where there is hope there is solidarity and friendship from the people of Ireland.

He referenced the Channel 4 Dispatches programme Killzone, saying viewers would be left cold by what they saw. He called the programme an affront to humanity and highlighted the daily slaughter of children in Gaza as shown in the coverage.
Demand for accountability
Gino Kenny insisted Israel must be made accountable politically, economically and diplomatically. He warned that failure to secure accountability would be "a stain on our history and our humanity."
Calls for continued solidarity and political solution
He urged people to keep hoping, marching and talking, saying that sustained action gives the people of Gaza hope. He said a political solution must be sought while giving solidarity to the people of Gaza at this particularly terrible time.

Ceann Comhairle, there's, I haven't got much time but there's brutal times and there's happy times in all our lives and the happy time is today where we can celebrate and welcome the recognition of Palestine. Some people will call it symbolic but symbolism brings huge hope across the world and where there's hope, there's solidarity and there's friendship from the people of Ireland but there's also brutal times. And then brutal times continue in Gaza at this moment of time. If anybody watched the Channel 4 Dispatchers programme last night, Killzone, they would be left cold in the face of in humanity to humanity. It was an affront to humanity where people, children are slaughtered on a daily basis and there has to be accountability for this, Cairn Collar, there has to be. Because if there's not, that will be a stain on humanity. Israel has to be made accountable politically, economically and diplomatically. Because if we don't, that again will be a stain on our history and our humanity. Sometimes there's no adjectives left in terms of what is going on at the moment in Gaza. But we have to keep hoping, we have to keep marching, we have to keep talking. Because that's what gives the people of Gaza hope in terms of what is going on in Gaza at the moment. We have to keep hoping, we have to find peace, we have to find a political solution. But also we have to give solidarity to the people of Gaza at this particularly terrible time. Thank you.
