It's no surprise to hear me say that I won't be avoiding confidence in this government. As I said just after the election, your programme for government and the groups you deal with to keep you empowered didn't inspire any confidence or show any vision. Your choices during the last budget favoured wealthy developers, left vulnerable people in the lurch, and your lack of urgency on the need to ramp up our energy security has been frustrating. People in my constituency can't get affordable homes, and those that do are consigned to congested areas with no facilities, no infrastructure, no reliable public transport services, and many of them now fighting for basic parking spaces. I said a few weeks ago that more was needed to help people suffering to an even greater extent during the current cost of living and fuel crisis caused by Trump and Netanyahu. We know you didn't cause the problem, but you needed to listen to the people faster and be part of rapid, meaningful, short-term solutions. If you survive this vote, I'll comment on some of the wider issues in later debates. But I just want to put these views on the record in a respectful way. Tarnish that you and your colleagues are not the devil, and the opposition are no angels. But to be clear, you've not responded quickly enough or gone far enough.
