Mayor Maga, Taoiseach, the people of Newport have waited decades for a wastewater treatment plant that's fit for purpose. This is absolutely critical infrastructure and for them to hear now that it may be 2031 before they get this critical infrastructure is absolutely not acceptable. It's not acceptable for families, not acceptable for businesses and for community groups in the area. This is a beautiful town that has waited too long. Minister, I'm asking you to intervene so they don't have to wait until 2031 for something as basic as a wastewater treatment plant. Deputy Rick Moore. Deputy Rose Conroy-Walsh. Again, I'm not sure as a background as to why the delay is to 2031. The project is underway, I take. I'll examine it with Irish Water. They make a very good black pudding in Newport as well. But I'll certainly look and I'll check out with Irish Water as to why, unless it's an operational or a planning issue, I don't know, but I'll check with them.
