Mattie McGrath criticises HICWA and Tuthla over care failures
Mattie McGrath criticised HICWA, Tuthla and big condomerates over alleged failings in the care sector. He praised frontline care workers in small nursing homes and said oversight bodies were "not fit for purpose", saying they had been dismantled and replaced by "some reasonable organisation".
He said "everybody was shocked and disgusted" and saluted care workers and nursing staff in small nursing homes, naming Caldiconsure, Glanmel, the Care Castle and Tipperary town for their work.
He accused HICWA of being "totally unfit for purpose" and criticised Tuthla, saying it "can't even count the children that have gone missing in their care." He alleged HICWA had bullied a Caldiconsure nursing home by restricting the number of open beds until the home complied.
He accused large providers he called "big condomerates" of playing "funny games," warned that "money changing hands" was occurring, and said "we've made a commodity of health care and that's totally unacceptable."

I want to, first of all, say everybody was shocked and disgusted at what we saw. But there's the tip of the iceberg as regards big business and what's going on with big condomerates. I want to salute all the care workers and nursing staff in all the small nursing homes, right from Caldiconsure, right up into Glanmel and the care castle and the Tipperary town. And to salute them in the work they do. And to challenge HICWA here. They're not fit for purpose. They haven't been fit for purpose for a long time. Same as Tuthla, who can't even count the children that have gone missing in their care. HICWA is totally unfit for purpose. I saw how they bullied a nursing home out of business in Caldiconsure some years ago by restricting the amount of beds they could have open until they did what HICWA wanted. Why can't we tackle this with the big condomers? There's funny games going on here. And I say money changing hands is something else changing hands because it's not acceptable. We've made a commodity of health care and that's totally unacceptable. So we've dismantled HICWA and Tuthla and set up some reasonable organisation that will look after people. So we've been doing this with the big condomers. We've been DOING FACING AND TUMBLING We've alsolling the podents to determine how they can't take care of the path. So I'm really looking for the people. So I'm not sure if it's going to be doing this with the big condomers. So I'm not sure if they have medicine and the big condomers are there. I'm really looking for the people who are doing this with the different condomers.
