I have to say it was heartening to see the scenes of many protesters being released from prison. These are heroes, they're not criminals, they're people who have put their bodies on the line to try to stop the war machine responsible for genocide in Palestine. But there's still many Palestinian activists who are in limbo, many still in prison and the government has maintained the prescription of Palestine action and intends to appeal it. In Ireland many Palestine solidarity activists including those in Palestine action are still being dragged through courts on trumped up charges. What do you say about the slide into authoritarianism that is happening in much of the Western world driven by the attempts to suppress criticism of the genocidal state of Israel and the use of these anti-terror laws? In terms of Deputy Murphy's case, in many ways what that reveals too is the checks and balances within every political system and within democracies. So, the authoritarian governments have been long established and there is an increase in authoritarianism but in the United Kingdom the Supreme Court ruled and so the checks and balances worked in the end of the day. That doesn't happen in every other country, there is a growth and an increase in authoritarianism in countries like Hungary, obviously Russia, Belarus, some Africans in the Sahel where Russia has intervened and established essentially puppet governments and the scuditas in these places getting rid of democratically elected governments so it is a worry the increase in authoritarianism. is it a focussed on not something that has been happening in the nation? Yes. Is it a story that is a thing that resembles a problem or a threat? Yes. Wait a minute.
