Mattie McGrath Demands Inquiry into Alleged Land Fraud
Mattie McGrath raised allegations on behalf of Mr Thomas Kennedy about alleged land fraud, wrongful imprisonment and loss of lands, and called for an independent inquiry. McGrath said Kennedy paid for land, has fought the issue for 20 years and farmed the land for 30 years.
Allegations presented
McGrath outlined that Mr Thomas Kennedy claims he bought and paid for land, believes fraud was committed, was wrongly imprisoned and was removed from lands he had farmed for three decades. He said Kennedy has pursued the matter for 20 years and has written to multiple authorities seeking redress.
Call for independent inquiry
McGrath asked for an independent inquiry, alleging "rogue enemies within the statutory corner, departments, solicitors" and describing the situation as murky and unfair. He urged that citizens should not be treated in this manner and pressed for formal investigation into the claims.
Correspondence with agencies
McGrath said he and Mr Kennedy had written to the Minister of Justice, the Land Services Regulatory Authority, the Property Regulatory Authority and other agencies, but had received little or only vague responses. He told the chamber he had also forwarded letters on Kennedy's behalf and was seeking a clear reply from the relevant bodies.
Minister's response
A ministerial reply on the record said the letter had not been seen to the minister's knowledge, noted the volume of communications received and declined to comment without detailed knowledge. The minister also cautioned against generalisations when discussing agencies or other parties.

I raised an issue of a temporary farmer which you, Mr Thomas Kennedy, has written to you, he's written to the Minister of Justice, the statutory corner, the Land Services Regulatory Authority and indeed the Property Regulatory Authority trying to obtain justice. Mr Kennedy feels that he bought and paid for land and he feels that the fraud has been committed and he's been wrongly imprisoned and indeed put off his lands which he's farmed for 30 years. I have reported these issues to all these agencies as well and Mr Kennedy's behalf which he's fighting for 20 years. Will you, and he's written to you, will you set up an independent inquiry into this because there's rogue enemies within the statutory corner, departments, solicitors and all involved in this and it's murky business and it's not fair and citizens of our country should be treated like this. You know about it because he's written to you and handed letters to you and so does the Minister of Justice. I have written to all the agencies myself and get no response, a little response, a very vague, this man needs justice. Thank you. Thank you Deputy. I don't think I can comment on, I haven't seen the letter to the best of my knowledge, Deputy but I think, I'm not saying I didn't, I mean I get thousands of communications on an ongoing basis but I don't think it's appropriate for me to comment on something I don't have detailed knowledge of.
